Natya Dance Theatre, Chicago's internationally acclaimed classical Indian dance company,
celebrates 30 years of performance with Alakshaya - Invisible Veil, a new evening length piece
that explores the contemporary metaphors of invisible veils, which exist in many forms. In this work,
choreographers Hema and Krithika Rajagopalan and the Natya dancers transport the viewers to a world where
spirituality and mysticism meet, and where dance vividly expresses a spectrum of deep emotions, juxtaposing
tradition with contemporary movement. The highly innovative work of NDT offers profound and subtle expressions of
humanity's deepest questions and values in the context of our present-day lives. NDT's style is rooted in Bharata Natyam,
one of the great classical dance forms of India.
